Huda Beauty Topaz Obsession Eyeshadow Palette Tutorial
(Updated 14/06/2021 10:35)
Before we get started, we need to prep your face and create a flawless base from which to work. Simply quench your skin’s thirst with a hydrating moisturizer and then apply your usual primer, foundation, blush and a little highlighter to get your perfectly prepped canvas ready. Now we can move on to your eyes...
STEP 1: PRIME THOSE PRETTY EYES
Begin by using an eyeshadow base like this one from Fenty Beauty. The Pro Filt’r Primer helps prevent your eyeshadow from fading or creasing so your makeup will go the distance. Apply directly to your eyelids using its cotton bud applicator and blend with your fingers or a damp sponge. Let it dry for a minute before moving on to the next step. PRO TIP: Set primer with a light dusting of Invisimatte Blotting Powder to speed up the drying process.
STEP 2: ACE THAT BASE
Using the Sephora Collection Pro Shadow Brush #15, create a base by applying the lightest shade from the Huda Beauty Topaz Obsession palette all over your eyelid. You’ll love how easy this is to apply, as the brush has been designed to ensure precision with every powder application.
STEP 3: WOW THEM WITH WARMTH
Next, it’s time to put your SC Pro Blending Brush #27 to work. Add depth to your lid by applying the first shade from the Topaz Obsession palette using gentle brushstrokes from the outer area of the eye into the crease of the eyelid. Stop approximately where your pupil is located. Apply the peach shade at the outer corner and along the bottom lashes to frame your eye with warm color.
STEP 4: DEEP ATTRACTION
Finish off the eyeshadow stage of this look by enhancing the contrast. Apply the dark brown shade to the crease with the SC Pro Small Shadow Brush #15 to give your eyes true attention-grabbing depth.
STEP 5: DRAW THE LINE
Now it’s time for eyeliner. Using Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper Black, draw a line close to your lash line. We used a thin line, but feel free to go a little thicker if that suits your style. For a subtle defining line like the one in this tutorial, lightly drag the brush tip across the base of your lash line from the inner to the outer corner, running the brush as close to the lash roots as possible. For a thinner line, use less pressure and for a bolder line, go for more pressure or simply layer up until you achieve your desired definition. For best results, wipe the brush tip with a damp tissue before applying to prevent build-up, which may cause your Tattoo Liner to dry out.
STEP 6: LASHES THAT LEAVE AN IMPRESSION
Here’s where we really kick up the drama. Using the Sephora Collection Outrageous Extension Mascara, place the brush at the base of the lashes and use a slight zigzag motion to work the mascara out from root to tip. This will separate the lashes while you load them up with a product for a volumizing effect. Repeat as often as you like, making sure you leave time for the mascara to dry between coats until they are evenly covered. To achieve an even more voluminous look, repeat the application on top of the lashes to leave you with a stunning multi-dimensional false lash effect. Et voila!
Although you should take care not to smudge your eye makeup while applying mascara, don’t worry too much if you do get a bit of product on your eyelids, as this can be easily fixed. Wait for it to dry, then using a clean brush or small sponge, gently rub in the product. If the mascara is proving hard to shift, simply dampen a cotton swab with a little cleanser and dab carefully to remove it.
STEP 7: TAKE YOUR LASHES TO THE MAX
What better way to finish your eye look than with a set of false lashes by lash guru, Huda Kattan?
We love Huda Beauty Classic Lashes in Samantha #7 - perfect for adding drama to any daytime look. A universal best seller, these double-stacked lashes have varying lengths to deliver medium volume with a feathery effect, for realistic flutter-worthy lashes that add just the right amount of oomph. For application, carefully take them out of the packaging, wiggle the lash band to loosen any stiffness, then, using tweezers, hold them against your lash line and trim to fit, as needed. Put a little glue along with the band – enough so that it sticks, but not so much that it slides out of place. To get in nice and close, grab your tweezers again and apply the lashes to your lash line. Once applied and dry, curl them with a lash curler to make sure they blend with your natural lashes. While these lashes are lush enough on their own, you can add a little mascara if you like.
Step 8: LOVE YOUR LIPS
For this lip look, we’ve chosen a few products that will deliver the most complementary hues and finishes for the captivating eyes you’ve just completed. But first, you need to prep your lips. As lips have a very thin epidermis that lacks sebum, they need extra care to ensure they don’t dry out or crack. Use a lip scrub once a week and moisturize daily with a nourishing lip balm to get healthy, smooth lips that will not only look good but hold color better too.
Apply the Sephora Collection Rouge Gel Lip Liner #16 Mesquite first to the outer lines of lips to contour, gradually filling in the color all over to create the perfect base for the Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain #23. Together, these two products will deliver a polished finish with stunning color that lasts from day to night. Finally, add a few generous swipes of Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Lip Luminizer in Fenty Glow on top of the lips for a gorgeous shimmery rose gold effect.
